Man ‘Beats Wife, 32, to Death’ in Port Harcourt

A man, identified as Michael Chidozie, has been arrested and detained by the Rivers State Police Command for allegedly beating his thirty-two year old wife, Mrs Ufuoma Chidozie, to death on Tuesday night, 5 March, 2024, at their residence at Agip axis of Mile 4, Port Harcourt.

Report gathered from friends of the deceased alleged that Chidozie is in the habit of beating his wife who is mother of three children, on daily basis without provocation.

Our source disclosed that after Ufuoma died as a result of injuries sustained from the alleged physical assault by her husband, the suspect fled after calling the brother of the deceased “to come to the house that there is an emergency.”

It was gathered that when the brother of the deceased came to his sister’s house, he saw the lifeless body of Ufuoma, but did not meet the husband at home.

We further gathered the suspect was arrested on Wednesday morning 6 March, 2024, by policemen attached to Agip Police Division, Mile 4, Port Harcourt following credible intelligence.

The Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko, has confirmed arrest of the suspect Michael Chidozie, noting that the case has been transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Port Harcout for further investigation.

According to a Police source, an autopsy will be conducted on the deceased to ascertain the veracity of allegation against the suspect.

Our correspondent report that the remains of Ufuoma Chidozie have been deposited in mortuary.
