An Ex-International, High Chief Otonye Obom, De Agba Wariboko 1 of Okuru-ama, believes that Super Eagles of Nigeria has a brighter chance to win the 2025 African Nations Cup Championship, judging from the cohesiveness and improved performance of the players seen of late.
Speaking in an exclusive interview in Port Harcourt on Sunday, Obom remarked that it will be a misconception from anyone to start to write the Super Eagles off from the championship having gotten to the semi-final as the players have continued to show the stuff they are made up of.
“Though, it is not contestable fact that the semi-final game against the Moroccans billed for Wednesday would be tough but I have the implicit confidence that the Super Eagles team will come out victorious at the end of the day”.
“Interestingly, one of the advantages Eagles are having has been their staying together a little longer before the embarking for the Nations Cup Championship and I can assure you that the good idea has been paying off with positive results”.
“Honestly, it is my fervent plead that the players should sustain the good confidence that kept them improving in every given match and also pray that ‘mother luck’ should always be on their side”..
Commenting on the insinuation making the rounds that Victor Osihmen has been very temperamental in nature in the field of play, the straight talking Obom slightly disagreed saying;
“Victor is a World Soccer Star who doesn’t like failures but committed in encouraging and motivating other players, hence should not be seen as an indiscipline player”.
“I don’t think that Osihmen shouting inside the field of play was targeted in insulting anyone which could be seen by any other player doing same, except that it was being misinterpreted by Soccer fans”.
“Victor Osihmen is a humble and also a team player who loves the Super Eagles team, Obom frankly summed up.
