2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Okonkwo Tips Eagles For Victory Over Gabon

A well-known vocal football pundit and successful business mogul in the state, Chief Christopher Okonkwo is sounding very optimistic on the chances of Super Eagles of Nigeria to beat the panthers of Gabons in the forthcoming playoff of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

Fielding questions from our reporter recently in his office in Port Harcourt, Okonkwo said that his optimism stems from what he has seen of the improved performance of the Super Eagles team from their last three qualifying games.

“No doubt, the Eagles players must have come to realise what they will gain from World Cup if they qualify for the championship and therefore had stepped up their game so that their dream in playing in the World Cup proper would not be dashed at this last lap of the qualifying series”.
“Truly, it is the Eagles players that will be the greatest losers if they allow the Gabonese side whom they are far better in ranking to beat them.

“Therefore, it behooves on Coach Eric Chelle to go down deep in his soccer armoury to select the right crop of players capable to prosecute the game and ensure that they beat the Gabonese side, knowing fully well that they will turn out to be the greatest beneficiaries if they qualify for the World Cup Championship”, the self confident Okonkwo stated.

Okonkwo who is also the Managing Director of Ogamco Nigeria Limited, however, called on teeming Nigerians to continue to rally support for the Eagles team, having see that the players are showing no pretence in their quest to do the country proud by picking one of the African slots, so as to be at the World Cup Championship to be co-hosted by U.S.A, Mexico and Canada come next year.
