Royal father, Rooters partner on golf kitty, sports development

In synergy with Rooters, a sports/media development and consultancy group, the Amanyanabo of Abonnema Kingdom, HRM King (Barr) Disrael Bob-Manuel, is to host a golf tournament tagged, Amanyanabo Kitty, to mark the elevation of the kingdom’s royal stool by the Rivers State governor, Barr Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, from second class to first class. The tournament will also be in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the creation of the state.

The royal father, who is the chairman of the state amateur golf association, played host to the group in his palace in Abonnema, the Akuku-Toru Local Government Area headquarters, assuring that he would partner the grassroots sports development group beyond the golf kitty.
“It is a thing of joy that today we have a group such as the Rooters coming out to partner with government and individuals like myself towards the development of sports in the state and the federation at large,” he said.
“I accept with humility that I will try to ensure that a golf kitty is sponsored and developed towards the celebration of not only the proclamation of the First Class status of the Amanyanabo stool of Abonema but also as a thank you gesture to His Excellency, the governor of Rivers State, Chief (Barr) Nyesom Ezebunwo Wike, who has seen it fit after all these years that the Kalabari ethnic nationality ought to grow, and has done this great deed for the Kalabari people.
“I also seize this opportunity to thank the Amanyanabo of Kalabari Kingdom, HRM, King J.T.J. Princewill for his goodwill messages, and congratulate him because in his tenure as Amanyanabo of Kalabari, the Kalabari Kingdom has seen such a rapid growth. I thank everybody who can be associated with this progress and pray the Almighty God to guide all of us to ensure that goodness, mercy and blessing will be our portion.”
He encouraged Rooters to look more keenly in the direction of grassroots sports development, especially in the various local government areas, saying sports development should not be in the cities alone.
Earlier, the group, in its address, sought a hand of fellowship with the traditional rule, his council of chiefs and the kingdom, as well as synergy with the state golf association, currently under his watch.
Rooters hailed the king for mustering the highest financial support for the green project of the Port Harcourt golf course as captain of the club, and promised to facilitate the Rivers Open event annually through a strong corporate presence and pro-partnership.
