A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State, Dr Joseph Ila, has described the late mother of Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, former Governor of Rivers State, as a virtuous woman who impacted humanity positively during her lifetime.
Dr Ila made this disclosure at Ubima during the funeral service of Dame Ezinne Mary Amaechi at St Theresa’s Catholic Church, Ubima, the country home of Rt Hon Amaechi, while speaking with newsmen.
According to him, Mama Ezinne’s legacies and contributions to the church speak for themselves, and her faith was lived out, not merely spoken.
“She gave without counting the cost, and she prayed without ceasing. Her greatest legacy was not in material things, extravagance, primitive accumulation of wealth or displays of arrogance, but in us—in the humanity she taught us, the faith she lived and the love she poured out every day during her lifetime. She was indeed a virtuous woman and a mother to all of us.
“She was not just a mother to her biological children but a good mother to all who came in contact with her. She was highly respected both in the church and in the community.
“She was a woman who showed immense respect for the customs and traditions of Ikwerre land and for the elders of the land. She was highly respected for her leadership qualities and remains a role model to young women.
“Indeed, she fought a good fight; she finished the race. May she now receive the crown of eternal glory that Christ won for us through His death and resurrection.”
Speaking on politics, Dr Ila, who is a close associate of Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi and a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State, said the presidential flag bearer of the party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, and his running mate, Rt Hon. Amaechi, would emerge victorious in the January 2027 presidential election.
He said they would defeat the All Progressives Congress (APC) and other parties because Nigerians, especially the poor masses, were tired of the economic hardship in the country. He added that the combination of Atiku and Amaechi held the keys to Nigeria’s economic prosperity.
He noted that the economic policies of the President Tinubu-led government had greatly impoverished Nigerians and urged the electorate to embrace the ADC and vote for the party in the 2027 general election for the prosperity and upliftment of the country.
“Rt Hon Amaechi has the capacity and experience to serve as Vice-President for the ADC to succeed in government.”
