Ahead the primaries and 2023 general elections, Delta State House of Assembly hopeful for Ughelli North Constituency II seat,  Barr. Spencer Obokpare Ohwofa, has promised “robust, qualitative and equitable representation if given the mandate to represent the good people of the constituency at the state legislature.”

Ohwofa made the promise when he paid a consultative visit to the chairman of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Elder Omeni Sobotie, at his Asaba residence on Tuesday.

While commending the state chairman for his progressive leadership style, he explained that his visit was to formally notify the number one member of the party in the state of his intention to seek the nomination of the All Progressive Congress to fly the party’s flag in the forthcoming general elections.

He promised to raise the bar of legislative delivery in the constituency through visible legislative interventions. He therefore sought the support, prayers and admonition of the chairman to run a successful campaign both in the primaries and the general election.

“Mr. Chairman, my entourage and I are here today to formally inform you that I, Spencer Obokpare Ohwofa, am vying for the constituency II seat in the Delta State House of Assembly. Since your emergence as state chairman, you have continued to demonstrate qualities that exemplify strong leadership and administrative competence that has no doubt repositioned our party on the path to victory in political contests across the state.

“As our father, I am not bereft of the consciousness that I cannot run this race without first informing you and gain your support, prayers and guidance. This is why I have come to inform you that I am in the race to disrupt the status quo by redefining legislative practice in our constituency through offering a sound and credible alternative that will help to bring democratic dividends closer to our people in a qualitative and equitable manner.

“I intend to bring to bear the effectiveness of the ‘Edge Agenda’ of the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, through advancing a robust legislative agenda.

“By the grace of God, I have the knowledge, skill-set, experience, competence, contact and resources to prosecute this task. But very significantly, I have leaders like you whose support for my aspiration would help to brighten my chances at the primaries and the general elections,” he stated.

In his response, Elder Sobotie expressed satisfaction with the legislative agenda presented by Barr. Ohwofa. He promised that the APC will provide a level playing ground for all aspirants during the primaries and admonished him to consult the delegates across the 6 wards of the constituency.

He prayed for wisdom and an abundance of resources to run the campaign and wished him success as he seeks to represent his people.

“I am delighted by your agenda to drive legislative rebirth in constituency II which happens to be my immediate constituency.

“I can assure you that the APC will organize free and fair primaries for all our aspirants. This is because, as a party, we are very particular about the unity of the party before, during and after the nomination processes. As a father, I will advise you to take consult widely across the 6 wards of the constituency and more importantly, the delegates who will be saddled with the responsibility of electing the flag-bearer of the party.

“I pray God to grant you success as you seek to represent your people”, he said.

Mr. Edewor Akpedafe, pioneer state treasurer of the APC, Barr. Igho Arhagba, erstwhile state deputy organizing secretary of the APC, Engr. Roland Odjeni, Mr. Daniel Itamah, Hon.
