Eulogies as Onne Customs Commissions Conference Hall, Training Centre

It was eulogies galore as officers and men, as well as stakeholders, poured encomium on Comptroller Baba Imam, Area Comptroller of the Nigeria Customs Service in Onne, Rivers State for embarking on “monumental projects within few months at the command.”
Speaking as guest of honour at the commissioning of conference hall and training center built by the Comptroller Imam administration, the Assistant Comptroller General of Customs, Zone C, ACG AA Peters commended Comptroller Imam for his exemplary leadership qualities and commitments to the development of the Area 2 command and the Nigeria Customs Service in general, describing the feat as a landmark achievement, while assuring that the service will continue to hold him (Imam) in high esteem.
He enjoined the officers and men of the command to guard the facilities jealously and protect it from destruction so as to justify the resources spent.
Earlier, the CAC Area 2 Command, Onne, Comptroller Baba Imam described the projects as a corporate social service initiated by the command and supported by stakeholders.
According to Imam, the conference and training centers, which has 110 and 40 sitting capacities respectively, will build synergy and give a sense of belonging to all stakeholders who transact legitimate business within the command premises.
He commended the stakeholders for supporting the projects, till its completion and commissioning, assuring that the facilities will be put to use as soon as possible.
He further urged all stakeholders to apply to his office for approval adding that the facilities will serve as a moral boost to officers to be more productive in trade facilitation and revenue generation activities, through training and meetings meant to enhance performance and productivity.
The event attracted dignitaries and stakeholders in the maritime industry, including members of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) Onne, Bonded terminal operators as well as military and paramilitary agencies at the port.
In a good will message, chairman of the Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), Onne, Mr Mike Ebeatu commended comptroller Imam for embarking on the two important projects, which according to him will impact positively on their business and facilitate trade at the command.

He described the comptroller as God-sent to the command, with conducive environment he has created since his assumption of office, while promising to abide by the extant laws of the service.

Also, secretary of ANLCA in Onne and general manager of Prestige and Associates Ltd, Deacon Chinedu Ikenga, who spoke on behalf of bonded terminal operators, commended the comptroller for the feat he had achieved within few months of assuming office, which he described as unprecedented and thanked him for recognizing the terminal operators, assuring that they will give the Customs boss all the necessary support to succeed.

High point of the event was the presentation of certificates and letter of appreciation to deserving stakeholders for their support to the command.
