African Students Union Parliament has described the president of Ijaw Youths Council (Worldwide), Dcn. Peter Timothy Igbifa, as a man of “magnificent experience, remarkable administrative icon, seasoned public servant, gem and outstanding comrade of impeccable credentials.”
The African Union Parliament “found the IYC helmsman worthy, following his unparalleled and unblemished records over the years, most especially his leadership potentials which is second to none.”
The excellent award ‘Pan Africa Leadership Award’ was presented to Dcn. Igbifa amidst cheers from the crowd that attended the epoch event.
Representative of the African Union Parliament, Ozim Temple, said Igbifa was scrutinized after the African Parliament Conference held at the University of Legon, Ghana and was found to be “an outstanding gentleman of repute who contributed immensely to the growth of Ijaw Nation and promotion of youth empowerment in the Niger Delta region and beyond.
“Igbifa is a lover students and Youths, a charismatic personality, a detribalised Nigerian, promoted effective service delivery, true comradeship, community service, human/capital development and above all, tackling insecurity which has bedeviled the society in recent times.”
Responding, the recipient and president of IYC, Dcn Peter Timothy Igbifa, commended their zeal in recognizing hard work, pointing out that African Students Union Parliament will succeed in all their endeavours.
He maintained that IYC under his watch is rapidly and speedily being transformed to the original design of the dreams of the forefathers of Ijaw land.
He described the birthday celebration of the IYC at Mercy land, Warri in Delta State as remarkable, considering that some people touted the IYC as a lawless body in the past.
“We are breaking and opening new grounds for success. Because if we are no more, our footprints would continue to speak for African youths,” Igbifa stated.
He further described African youths as very responsible and should not be treated with ignominy. The IYC leader said African youths are talented and innovative, making the world a place to be.
According to him African youths are part of the brains behind America’s success story and those of other parts of the world. He advised them to be courageous, as the IYC will continue to interface with them for a robust partnership in the years ahead.
