A socio-cultural organization in Rivers State, Gbori-Poko of Kalabari, has described Chief Barr Nyesom Wike’s performance as governor of Rivers State in the last six years as “nothing short of magical,” while urging him to “consider a true Rivers son with same love for the state, flowing in his vein” as successor.
In a release signed by its president, Comrade Matthias Tamunoemi Progress, the group noted that Governor Wike’s transformational development of the state is best continued by “a riverine successor in the person of Alabo D George Kelly.”
Dr. Dax George-Kelly is currently special assistant on Special Projects and Head Bureau for Special Project to the Rivers governor.
Comrade Matthias Progress hailed the governor “for his developmental strides achieved in the last seven years,” noting that “he has proved all his critics wrong by performing beyond their expectations.”
He said “when compared with the lean resources that accrued to the state, within the period under review, and given the laudable projects executed, it would not be out of place to say he performed magic.”
The group said that, the governor prioritized development even in his second term, adding that “this has never happened in the history of Nigerian politics. As Nigeria politicians only do what they can in the first term. But this is different in the case of Chief Barr. E.N. Wike.
“These projects have now changed the face of the Rivers State and are now attracting numerous people to the state for site seeing, relaxation and even investment. This is a good omen for the state, and as such, we would like a continuation of this kind of love for the state; a true Rivers son with same blood of love for the state, flowing in his vein.
“In our search for such person, it wasn’t difficult to spot on one, as we discovered Dakorinama Alabo George Kelly, who perfectly fits into that shoe.
“George Kelly as he is fondly called, is a man of many parts, a true Rivers son from the Kalabari stock, with the blue blood of love for the state flowing in him, like we saw in the present governor (Nyesom Wike). George Kelly is one that has so internalized himself into the visions and philosophy of Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike.
“Kelly values the governor’s vision so much that he can never separate himself from it, which is why we as a group are calling on the governor and the PDP leadership to look at Kelly’s end and consider him as one to succeed our amiable governor; Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike.”
The group through its leader, Comrade Progress further said that “having carefully observed and analyzed the activities of the young man called George Kelly, they can assure Rivers people that he has the capacity and wisdom to pilot the affairs of the state if given the opportunity; he is a young man below 50 years full of the sap of life.
“He is one that has clearly distinguished himself, with an impeccable track record of decency, easily accessible, one with a very liberal heart, as a matter of fact, his good name and image looms and towers beyond Rivers State, and above all, he is a detribalized man just as his principal, Governor Nyesom Wike,” he said.
