SAED An Interventionist Strategy toAddress Graduate Unemployment- NYSC

Authorities of the National Youths Service Corps has said the  Skill Aquisation and Entrepreneur Development (SAED) programme for corps members during service year is an interventionist strategy to address graduate youth unemployment and enable corps members serve as opinion leaders in  matters of skills acquisition and wealth creation.

‎The Director, NYSC South South Area Office 1 described the NYSC SAED programme as a strategy of activating  the creative ability in graduate youths on national assignment.

‎The NYSC Director, South-  South  Area Office 1. Mr. Alao Oluwasegun , who made this known  during his official visit to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Bayelsa State, said the world is tilting towards ‘Sabificate’ and not just certificate, “and so you must be intentional in selecting a skill to learn. The In – camp  training is  free of charge while the Post Camp training is highly subsidized for your benefit.”

‎Mr.  Oluwasegun, who also took the corps members through the cardinal programmes of the service, urged them to actively participate in all the activities as they are strategically designed to bring out virtues befitting   good citizens and leaders.

‎Dwelling exhaustively on the SAED programme, the Director urged them to take full advantage of the in- camp and post – camp training programmes to join the league of corps entrepreneurs.

‎He urged them to be security conscious and cautioned them  against use of fake medical certificates for purposes of relocation application  as this act will negatively affect them in the future.

‎He enjoined them that, in seeking for success, they should not make it a matter of do or die. He also  stressed that, whatever  they will do that will cost them their lives should be avoided.

‎” Yes, difficulties will come only if you do not listen to instructions during and after the orientation course. Remember that, the task of building a better future rests with the youths. Therefore, be a good  ambassador of your family, institution of graduation and the NYSC.” He said.

‎Most importantly, he cautioned against unnecessary journeys , travelling without official permission and  going across rivers without properly wearing a life jacket.

‎He wished them a fruitful service yeear and committed them to the blessings and protection of the Almighty God.

‎Earlier, the State Coordinator, Mrs Okpalifo  Charity welcomed the director to the camp, briefed him about the  camp activities, progress, challenges  and prospects. She  assured him about strict compliance with orientation course policies.

‎She commended the camp officials for the  synergy, dedication to assigned duties  and applauded corps members for their high level of morale,  discipline and attendance during all camp activities.
