Maltida Seeks Govt Support For Movie Producers

Rivers-born movie producer, Maltida Lambert has advocated the need for government to come to the aid of independent producers in a bid to enable them attain great heights.

Maltida who made this known while briefing newsmen, ahead of her new movie, ‘Insta Guru,’ which was premiered on June 29, 2018 in Port Harcourt, noted that the entertainment industry actually adds value to the economy of both the country and state.

She said Rivers State is not only a beautiful place, but also has all the facilities and talented people that can make the city a hub for movie productions.

“Though Lagos State today is known to be a beautiful place for entertainment, but I can assure you that Rivers can equally be the same if only the state government can come in to support independent movie producers.

“I have produce ‘Insta Guru’ movie with my little money and can assure you that I’m ready to even do more if given some assistance by the state government.

“Interestingly, all my shooting has been in Port Harcourt and the essence was to tell the outside world that Rivers State is safe, contrary to all the negative reports said about the city to portray it in bad light,” Matilda said.

She, nevertheless, pointed out that weather condition and traffic jam had been some of the greatest challenges they encountered in Port Harcourt, which is reportedly scaring some of the producers from coming to Rivers State to shoot their movies.

“Regrettably, Rivers State is still backward in the entertainment industry, compared with other states in the federation. But I do not doubt that if the state government can come forward to assist us, we will rank the best among the lots.”

Asked whether she had plans to impart some of her ideas and experience in movie production to the younger ones in the state, Maltida said “I have a plan of getting an academy to be known as Maltida Lambert Academy and also ready to call on other senior professional colleagues and intellectuals to teach the younger ones. But I cannot do it all alone because of lack of funds.”

The Andoni-born artist, however, prayed that Rivers State government would come in to assist her, having seen that there are still some upcoming young ones who have the zeal to contribute to the movie industry in the state.
