By Our Correspondent

Leading aspirant for Southern Ijaw Constituency 3 seat in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Donny Sigah, says he will win the upcoming election if the party gives him the ticket to contest in the general election.

Dr. Donny Sigah is from Ekowe community in the Bomo Central block of the constituency.

Addressing his supporters drawn from the three political blocks of Bomo West, Bomo Central and Bomo East in Yenagoa, he said voters have in the past witnessed huge non-performance of elected representatives because wrong choices were made by political godfathers to score cheap popularity.

He promised adequate and effective representation when elected, continuing that he will within two months in office inaugurate his constituency office to ease communication with constituents.

Speaking further, Dr. Donny Sigah said he will operate open doors and drive people-oriented policies and the manifesto of the All Progressives Congress.

“I have served my community, Ekowe as youth president. And this was during the turbulent agitation for resource control by youths in the Niger Delta region.

“And you know that it can only take a youth with positively acceptable character to build bridge with our youths.

“Shortly after that period, my people requested that I should represent the ward as Councilor in the Southern Ijaw Local Government Council, and of course, I was popularly elected.

“I thereafter became House Committee chairman on Business and Communication, an office I effectively managed.

“I am well groomed to work with all shades of people. I am a Development economist who believes that for society to grow acceptably, leaders must develop the people.

“You cannot distance yourself from the people and pretend to be their representative”, Donny said.

He expressed appreciation to leader of the party in Bayelsa State and Minister of state for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva, State chairman of the party, Dr. Dennis Otiotio, former elected governor of the state, Chief David Lyon for massively mobilizing membership for the All Progressives Congress in the state.

Others are Chief Pastor Reuben, member representing Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency in Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Hon Preye Influence Oseke, Chief Stephen Bekefula, Barr. Daumiebi Festus Sunday as well as Director-General of Pastor Reuben Initiatives- Dr. Solomon David and members of the initiative for the support and courage he had enjoyed from them.

Also speaking, Dr. Solomon David who recently withdrew from the race for Donny described the aspirant as a season politician who is connected to all the three political blocks in the Constituency.

“I have always reasoned that no great man can be taller than his master.

“We were six to run the primaries, but the best of all that has the capacity to win election for the APC is Donny Sigah.

” I am throwing my weight behind him, and I am calling on all stakeholders of the party, particularly those in Southern Ijaw constituency three that we shouldn’t just be preparing to contest the election, but ensure that we win in that election.

“We can only win when we sponsor a candidate that has the capacity to win the election”, Dr. Solomon said.

Responding to questions from journalists, Dr. Solomon said Donny has seventy percent chances of winning incumbent Moses Marlon who is rumoured to be the choice of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

“I don’t talk much about my opponents, but without mincing words, Donny will win seventy percent of votes that will be cast in that election as against the thirty percent of Moses Marlon will score if he manages to score that much”, Solomon predicted.
