The Rivers State Government has rewarded ten indigenes who received the prestigious National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Presidential Honours Award with a total sum of ₦20 million.
Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, congratulated the award recipients, describing them as worthy ambassadors, whose outstanding service during their NYSC year has brought honour and pride to the State.
The governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Dagogo Wokoma, announced the cash reward in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to human capital development and the promotion of excellence across all sectors of society.
Governor Fubara commended the awardees for their dedication, discipline and selfless contributions to national development, assuring that the state government would continue to recognise and encourage exceptional achievements among its youths.
In his remarks, the Rivers State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mr. Moses Oleghe, expressed appreciation to Governor Fubara for the generous gesture. He reaffirmed the scheme’s commitment to partnering with the state in nurturing graduates who will make meaningful contributions to nation-building.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Gideon Nwaokugha thanked the governor for the recognition and support. He assured that the awardees would continue to uphold the values of excellence and serve as worthy representatives of Rivers State wherever they find themselves.
