No Land For Herdsmen In Rivers ~ Wike

The governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Wike, has distanced his state from the proposed cattle colonies across the nation, adding that the state has no land to give out for such.

Speaking on Tuesday when he granted audience to the D-Source Connect Group, at the Government House, Port Harcourt, Wike urged Rivers people to always focus on the development of the state.

He pledged to remain committed to defending the interest of the people of the state at all times, stressing that he would not allow the state to be controlled by external forces.

The governor said: “We will not allow our state to be controlled by external forces. We will not be drawn into debates on cattle colony. We don’t have land for any cattle colony in Rivers State.”

He however, advised Rivers people to mobilise for the 2019 general election, by going out to vote and defend their votes, adding that “our people should continue to mobilise for the 2019 election because it will not be business as usual where people think that they will use security to rig election. That will not be allowed to happen.”

Wike, who said the All Progressives Congress (APC) had done nothing in the state to merit any vote, added that rather the party had destroyed the country. The governor commended group for its commitment to the development of New Rivers, and assured that his administration would always accommodate youths, and members of the group.

Coordinator of the D-Source Connect Group, Mr. Dike Vincent Amadi reiterated the group’s endorsement of the governor for a second term, even as he commended the state government for prudent management of resources, which he said led to an explosion of infrastructural projects across the state.

Amadi noted that members of the group will mobilise people across the state to vote for the governor and also defend their votes.
