Elderstatesman  Condemns Impeachment Plot Against Fubara, Odu

The impeachment move by the Rivers State House of Assembly against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy Prof. Ngozi Odu over allegation of gross misconduct has continued to attract strong condemnation.

‎The latest is coming from an elderstatesman, Chief Christopher Okonkwo, who held the view that the action of the assembly men were not only disrespectful but very disgraceful, having seen that such an action of threat has never been openly metted to any serving Executive Governor of the state in the federation even when some of them may have committed some cases of wrong doing that deserve for an answer.

‎“More worrisome and annoying is that Governor Fubara who is  known to be humble and very submissive has never done badly since he assumed office, hence, wondered why the Rivers House Assembly members should team-up to plot for an impeachment against him”.

‎“For me, it is a big slap and a shameful thing to be stomached by everyone living in Rivers State, giving the fact that Sir Siminalayi Fubara is our Governor, even though that all of us are not from Rivers State, yet, we are all residing in Rivers State doing  our daily businesses”.

‎“Though, report has it that those Assembly men were acting based on the script given to them by an individual but my question was that ‘are they not matured enough to rescind their decision’ if they discovered that the path they are following was a wrong one”.

‎“Honestly, I am highly impressed with the position and straight comment made by one Hon. Chijioke Ihunwo who minced no words in calling things by its proper name by joining in condemning the impeachment move, not minding whose ox is goared”.

‎“Though, we have heard that they have served the impeachment notice to the Chief Judge but all the same, let’s see how it will pangs out”

‎“On a more serious note, I’m one man who believes that even if the court verdict favours the Assembly members, let them remember that they will also receive the same treatment metted to Governor Fubara along the line some day in life”, he summed up.
