All is now set for an International Conference and Trade Exhibition on Marine economy,this was disclosed by Engr. Capt.Charles A.N. Johnson Phd while briefing the press on the Ist Marine and Blue Economy Conference and Exhibition ( IMABEC 2025 ) slated for 18th – 20th November,2025,with theme: Sustainable Blue Economy:Advancing Safety , Economy and Social Resilience in coastal Ecosystem.
According to him, the purpose of IMABEC 2025 is to stimulate national and regional awareness on the potentials of the Blue Economy and promote collaboration among government, academia,industry ,and local communities,which include promoting investment and innovation in marine based sectors , encouraging sustainable job creation and youth empowerment,showcasing research,technology ,and development initiatives within the marine domain and providing a platform for policy dialogue and institutional synergy towards a Resilient and inclusive Blue Economy in Nigeria and West Africa.
Engr Capt.Charles A.N. Johnson who is the Director at the Institute of Marine Studies ,Niger Delta University, Amasomma,Bayelsa state ,who was flanked by other management staff,posited that the ( IMABEC ) is conceived as a strategic multi stakeholders platform to advance discourse,innovation,and investment in the Blue Economy space and that this maiden edition is being organized by the Institute of Marine studies of Niger Delta University in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy and other Stakeholders like NIMASA,NPA, NDDC and Nigerian Shipper’s Council as well as the academia and private sector.
” The Conference will feature high level plenary sessions, technical and policy discussions, Exhibitions,capacity building worksop ,and networking opportunities.
These programs are designed to bring together policy makers,industry leaders ,researchers ,investors and young innovators to share insights and create actionable strategies for the sustainable utilization of marine resources”
On benefits to Bayelsans and others he said” For Bayelsa state, IMABEC 2025 offers immense opportunities.It will project the state as a strategic hub for Blue Economy Development,attract investments in maritime Infrastructure, aquaculture,and Tourism,and create employment and skill building avenues for the citizens and will culminate in issuance of a communique and action roadmap for advancing Nigeria,s Blue Economy.We anticipate strengthened partnerships,new investment commitments,and improved coordination among stakeholders.Ultimately ,the outcome will position Nigeria, particularly Bayelsa state,a key player in Africa,s Emerging Blue Economy Landscape”
