At a stakeholders meeting held over the weekend a unanimous vote of confidence was passed on the Acting Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, All Progressive Congress (APC), Mr Samuel Evwighono. The party equally applauded him for holding unified meeting barely two weeks in office, describing him as a man with uncommon leadership character and integrity.
The motion for the vote of confidence was moved by Dr Rufus Edoja Akpodiete former member of Delta State House of Assembly who represented Ughelli Constituency II and motion was seconded by Hon Spencer Ohwofa.
The unified stakeholders meeting which took place at the APC Secretariat along was attended by leaders of the party in Ughelli North Local Government Area.
In their separate speeches, the Chairman of Ughelli North Local government area, Chief Jaro Egbo said as far he was concerned the APC North Local government area recgonised the Ewvighono led executive and remained the authentic and united APC that was poised to galvanize massive support for the re-election of President Tinubu, Hon Sherriff Oborevwori, all the national assembly and state assembly members, come 2027 general elections.
“There is only one APC in Ughelli North Local Government Area. Any other is either ADC or PDP and we have resolved to support President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori,our Delta Central Senator, House of Representative and two House of Assembly members.l advised others outside this fold to join us, ” he said.
According to him, the meeting was convened to not congratulate the brand new Ughelli North Local government Area APC Acting Chairman, Mr Samuel Evwighono and his Executive, but to solicit the massive support of APC stakeholders to remain resolute and work assiduously for the party’s victories during the 2025 general elections.
” The Federal Government is here, all the APC National Assembly members, the minister representing Delta Central,the APC senator and House of Representative member and two House of Assembly members are here with us.
What else the zonal chairman of APC,state chairman of APC,chief Omeni Sobotie is here with us and we have it in good authority that there are plans to cause confusion,but we are not perturbed,because we are sure that the APC in Delta State is one and it remained united.We beckon on our brothers to join us to deliver the party in all elections come 2027.”
“As you can see all the national assembly members , state Assembly member, Federal appointees,state appointees,board members are all with us”, he said.
The Acting Chairman of APC in Ughelli North Local Government Area, Mr Samuel Evwighono lauded the Chairman of Ughelli North Local government area,Chief Jaro Egbo and Mrs Stella Okotete for their unwavering commitment towards the holding of the enlarged stakeholders meeting.
He said, “The response of the stakeholders and attendance deserved commendation, that is an indication of the party’s unity and inclusiveness in the local government area. And as the acting chairman, we are prepared to work together assiduously to ensure that we deliver on our mandate of delivering Ughelli North Local government Area for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, our national and state assembly members come 2027 general elections”.
On the fate of other members of APC outside their group, he said efforts will be made to bring them back and together they shall work.
“The boat has started sailing ,we will not leave anybody behind, ” he said.
He also disclosed that moving forward, he will hold meeting with ward chairmen and other critical stakeholders at the ward level, all of which are geared towards having a strong and strategic base for the APC.
Also speaking, the member representing Ughelli North Constituency II, Hon Spencer Ohwofa posited that as far as he is concerned, there is no opposition party in Delta State and Ughelli North ConstituencyII cannot be an exemption.
“There is no vacancy in the presidency. No vacancy in Government House and no vacancy in Ughelli North Constituency 11.Come 2027 it’s going to be victory all the way. We don’t have opposition anywhere, ” he stated.
On her part, Christabel Obiovwevwi, an aide to Delta State Governor , said there is no disunity among the members, adding that they united and prepared to deliver the party and sustain development in the area.
