RSU VC Charges Student Leaders on Execution of Legacy Projects

Vice Chancellor of the Rivers State University, (RSU), Nkporlu Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, Professor Zeb Obipi has charged student union leaders in the institution to strive to leave behind legacy projects that will be a reference point to their tenure in the university.

Prof. Obipi who spoke to journalist on the occasion of the birthday celebrations of the President, Post Graduate Student Association (PGSA), Obarijima Waite at the university campus, said student unions in the institution should properly utilize funds accruing from dues paid by students to execute projects in the university rather than spending it only on holding parties and other extravagant activities.

He commended the PGSA President for executing projects in the institution describing them as legacy projects that can stand the test of time.

Prof. Obipi who reeled out various projects executed by successive students union administrations in the university, expressed the commitment of his administration to always identify and collorborate with the leadership of student unions who demonstrates exceptional leadership in the institution.

According to him, the PGSA President has shown examplary leadership during his tenure, I will therefore advise the incoming leaders to emulate the legacies left behind by their predecessor.

The VC had earlier commissioned the remodeled PGSA office located at the Post Graduate School complex, the remodelled PG. Hall at the Department of Electrical/Electronics building as well as the solar powered FCMB Hostel for PG students, all executed by the Obarijima Waite administration. Highlights of the event was a birthday party in honour of the PGSA President, Obarijima Waite.
