Chairman of Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, Akuro Tobins has unfolded plans to construct a befitting mini stadium to promote grassroots sports development in the local government area.
Tobin’s who spoke with newsmen in his residence in Okochiri town in the local government stated that he will use the opportunity of his re-election into office for the second term to promote sporting activities among youths in the area adding that youths in the local government has the potentials that can be harnessed to world class standards.
The Chairman expressed his determination to laize with the leadership of the communities for available land space where the stadium would be located, adding that he was satisfied with the success of the football competitions for the Chairman’s Cup which he instituted during his first term in office.
Tobins equally stated that his second missionary journey as chairman of the council would focus on infrastructural and human capital development and expressed his determination to fulfil the expectations and confidence reposed in him by the Okrika people.
The Chairman also expressed his interests and plans to develop the capacity of the youths and women in the area through skills acquisition and trainings noting that they have been factored into the human capacity development programmes of his administration.
He equally harped on his determination to ensure that the prevailing peace in the area was sustained emphasising that he will synergize with the various security agencies in the area to provide adequate security in the Local Government Area.
“I did well in my first term in office. So this is my second missionary journey and my second term in office will be better than my first journey. My focus is on human capital development. My expectations in that angle is high,” Hon Tobins declared.
