The leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Bayelsa State Council has felicitated Dr Wisdom Ebiye Sawyer on his appointment as the new Head of Service of Bayelsa State.
In a statement, NUJ State Council Chairman, Comrade Tonye Yemoleigha and the Secretary, Comrade Imgbi Stanley said, the appointment of Dr Sawyer is a decision in the right direction.
According to the statement, Dr Wisdom Sawyer, a seasoned career civil servant will bring his wealth of experience to bear on his new assignment.
The NUJ leadership however tasked the new Head of Service on a robust state administrative machinery and wants him to build on the achievements of his predecessor.
It added that the State Council of the NUJ is prepared to work closely with the new Head of Service as it wishes him well on the task ahead.
The statement also commended Governor Douye Diri for the appointment of Dr Wisdom Sawyer, adding that, the appointment was based on merit.
It would be recalled that until his appointment as the new Head of Service, the University of Port Harcourt-trained Dr Sawyer, who is also a Member of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, was the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health.
