The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Osere DENCO Integrated Services Limited, Comrade Dennis Osere, has said that his philanthropic gestures are aimed at improving the wellbeing of the poor and vulnerable in the society.
He made the declaration after receiving an award as the ‘Most Distinguished Philanthropist Man of the Year 2024/2025,’ presented by the Niger Delta Media Practitioners of Nigeria (NDMPN).
The award was conferred on him at his country home in Omoku, headquarters of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State over the weekend.
“Whatever services I’m rendering today are to the glory of God Almighty, not to be seen by any man. My philanthropic gestures are to the poor, not to the rich. As recorded in Proverbs, that whatever you are doing to the poor is indirectly lending to God, which shall return to you. So all I’m doing in ONELGA and beyond are targeted at the poor,” he said.
While thanking the Niger Delta Media Practitioners of Nigeria (NDMPN) for finding him worthy of recognition, particularly those who undertook the assessment of his contributions, he pointed out that he should also have been adjudged as the highest employer of labour in ONELGA, reiterating that the bottom line is that they are committed to alleviating the suffering of the masses.
The business mogul described the award as an encouragement for higher responsibilities and blamed the widespread poverty in Nigeria on the ruling class.
He noted that there is miscarriage governance in the country, adding that leadership is about taking responsibility, not an opportunity to loot public funds as is being practice in Nigeria.
Comrade Osere, who is also a Gospel minister, called for a crusade at ensuring that the righteous are voted into power, adding that the problem in Nigeria has gone spiritual.
He however noted that the issues have gone beyond prayers, and require electorates to come together and not allow the unrighteous to cling to elective positions.
Earlier in his speech, the convener of Niger Delta Media Practitioners of Nigeria (NDMPN), Amb. Joseph Asomeji, explained that the award presentation was to compliment the report by the group’s assessment team, “who carried out diligent investigation on the contributions of the awardee.”
Amb. Asomeji revealed that the awardee ranked second as employer of labour in ONELGA, and had carried out series of poverty alleviation programs to the benefit of the vulnerable and poorest of the poor in his local government area, hence the award to serve as encouragement.
Asomeji further appealed for support in achieving the group’s corporate social responsibility project, which is donation and distribution of instructoral materials to pupils in public schools in Rivers State.
High point of the event was the decoration of the awardee and presentation of the plaque.
