Delta Youths Advised To Shun Crime, Criminality

Delta Youths living in all the eight local government areas of Bayelsa state have been admonished to shun crime and Criminality, contribute their own quota towards the socio – political development of Bayelsa ,their host state and ensure peacefully co – existence with other communities.

The advise was given by the President of Delta community in Bayelsa state,Asp Ambrose Obi during the swearing in and inauguration of the Delta Youth in Bayelsa after a free,fair and credible election that was conducted and observed by stakeholders from non indigenes, South – South indigenes residing in Bayelsa state.

According to him,the youth should shun youthful exuberance and channel productive energy to promote peace ,love and oneness among their fold and extend same to the youth groups from their host state and be good ambassadors of Delta state.
” With your inauguration and swearing today,consider it as a privilege for you to serve,and not lord over your Executives,but consult widely with the umbrella body and once you default we will not hesitate to use the sledge hammer”
He also called the president,Comrade Gift Okrika to carry his executives along and avoid sentiment,as the president of Delta Youths from the 25 Local Government Areas of Delta state residing in Bayelsa state. “

Also speaking the president of Urhobo Progress Union ( UPU ) in Bayelsa state chapter, Olorogun Charles Oruru urged the youth body to see themselves as complimentary to other socio – political groups from Delta state and join hands to promote peace and harmony with their host state . He warned” after today , don’t undermined the umbrella body, but consistently seek their wise counsel in whatever you do which should not go outside the constitution of the umbrella organization.”


In her goodwill message, Princes Perekeme, reiterate the needs for peaceful coexistence among Deltans and with their host state. She charged the Youths to vanguard to change the narratives on the marginalization and neglect of Delta indigenes when it comes to appointment by Bayelsa state government.” It is appauling that each time political appointments were made, Bayelsa government will by pass Delta state despite it’s cultural contiguity and proximity and appoint other tribes far away from Bayelsa state . With our numerical strength we are not remembered and considered for political appointment”

Others in their separate speeches such as Hon Dr Madapuye, President General South – South and Senior Special Assistant to Bayelsa state governor, Chief Richard Ogbage, founding father of Supreme Council of Non- Indigenes in Bayelsa state and chief Prince Barisuka, President of Rivers Community in Bayelsa state called on the newly Inaugurate executive to work as one indivisible team to always seek advise, avoid be confrontational, shun youthful exuberance and be creative and be innovative to galvanize inter communal collaboration within it’s fold and the host state that have provided the enabling environment for them to eke out their living in Bayelsa state.

Also speaking, the chairman of the Electoral Committee, Engr James Vwotu posited that the election was conducted under a free, fair and credible atmosphere and urged those elected to consider themselves been priveleged to serve and prove their mettle.

After taking the oath of office and allegiance that was administered by Bar Oporomor, the newly sworn in president of Delta Youths in Bayelsa state, Comrade Gift Okrika, who also doubles as the president of Youth president under Urhobo Progress Union UPU, Bayelsa state chapter, said it was a great and memorable event as for a very long time they have been craving for this opportunity of having a Youth president to coordinate the Youths of Delta state residing in Bayelsa state and commended all and sundry for making the day a reality, adding he will not take this privilege for granted and will make sure the Youths are properly coordinated maximally and called on executives to support him in his endeavours.
“Let me first and foremost thanked God almighty because without him he can’t do anything and we are ready to join hands with the Bayelsa state on ASSURED PROSPERITY agenda”
He also promised to ensure peaceful coexistence as Deltans contribute more than 65 % of Bayelsa state economy with numerical voting strength and called Deltans, especially Youths to always engage in legitimate ventures and promised to ensure that they work with the law enforcement agents for peace to reign.
