2023: Wave of Resignations Hit Rivers as 5 Cabinet Members Pick Guber Forms

A wave of resignations has hit Rivers State as at least five serving cabinet members have handed in their letters to clear the way for them to join the race to replace Chief Nyesom Wike as governor of the state at 2023 general elections.

The resignations are coming in the wake of silence and seeming lethargy among the political class who reportedly had been waiting for Wike to anoint a successor.

The governor was expected to have announced his successor at two party stakeholders’ meetings held in the state in the past three weeks. But without any clear word or indication from the governor to that effect, most of the politicians interested in the Brick House have begun moves to actualise their ambitions.

Several of them have already purchased forms for the governorship position while others are concluding plans and arrangements to support their interests including resigning their current positions, especially for those of them still in one political office or the other in the state.

Port Harcourt Mundial investigation has it that as at Wednesday, at least five top senior civil servants and politicians serving the state government have turned in their resignations.
