In a bid to enhance the winning chances of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State at the 2023 polls and future electoral engagements, Dr Rufus Ebegba, director general, National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA) has called for peaceful coexistence, unity and justice in the state’s chapter of the APC.

The Delta State 2023 governorship hopeful made this known in a statement released to the press recently.

He said, “I want to call on party faithful and leaders to consider the path of peaceful coexistence, mutual respect, unity and justice as we journey towards the elections in 2023”.
“This is important because if the leaders in the party, as well as their followers are fighting each other, then it means there is no hope for what we want to claim. Therefore it is wise for us to lay down our arms and seek out ways to address our grievances without destroying the party”.

Speaking further, the Evwreni born environmental scientist who is attending an international biosafety conference in the Republic of Ghana averred that “In the bid to address lingering issues between the leading individuals of the party and bring peace, we must succumb to the demands of equity, fairness and justice.

“Leaders and followers must maintain a disposition of mutual respect, as well as bear in mind that justice is the basis for peace. We must give opportunity for opinions to thrive, no matter how dissenting they are, and be willing to make the necessary compromises for lasting peace and a sense of belonging”.

The NBMA DG called for calm as well as urged party faithful not to be deterred by seeming differences.

“In any engagement where two or more people are involved, there are bound to be disagreements between or among the people. However we must disagree to agree, and look beyond the differences to make something good from varying opinions in Delta APC, because Deltans, home and abroad, and the coming generations of young Deltans around the world are looking up to us to bring solutions to the myriad of issues plaguing the state and not to throw away the baby with the bath water”.
