Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has been described as possessing the magic wand and political capacity required to reposition Rivers State and restore its pride of place as the Treasure Base of the Nation.
The Eze Oha Evo III of Evo Kingdom, Nyerisi Eli Woji (Eze Woji XII), His Majesty King Prof. Leslie N. Eke, JP, Eze Gbakagbaka, stated this while speaking with newsmen at his palace in Woji Community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Eke noted that there could hardly have been another person with the standard, experience and understanding required to know exactly how to fix things in the right places for the overall development of Rivers State and the wellbeing of its residents.
He was of the view that Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike was uniquely positioned and designed to get things right in the state, stressing that his antecedents in governance had demonstrated his capacity to identify challenges and provide practical solutions.
According to him, no leader in the state had pushed more vigorously for better placements and opportunities for Rivers people, both at home and abroad, than Wike.
The Evo apex ruler, who also doubles as Chairman of the Supreme Forum of Ikwerre Government Recognised Traditional Rulers, said Wike’s efforts in promoting the interests of Rivers people had gone beyond the boundaries of the state.
He further noted that the former Rivers State Governor’s national profile and performance as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory were deliberate, pointing to the numerous projects being executed in Abuja as evidence of his commitment to development.
Eke maintained that Wike’s political influence and national engagements had also continued to create opportunities for Rivers people, adding that his ability to operate effectively at both state and national levels remained a major advantage to the state.
“Wike is a goal-getter. That is why he is succeeding in his political endeavours. I can say that he is also a workaholic,” he said.
The traditional ruler observed that Wike’s approach to governance and political engagement had shown that purposeful leadership required courage, determination and the willingness to take difficult decisions in the interest of the people.
He therefore urged Rivers people to recognise and appreciate individuals whose contributions had positively affected the state, stressing that the collective interest of Rivers State should remain paramount irrespective of political differences.
Eke expressed optimism that with the right leadership, strategic partnerships and continued commitment to development, Rivers State could consolidate its position as the Treasure Base of the Nation and further attract national and international recognition.
