PDP Primaries: Bayelsa Assembly Hopeful Denies Conceding Defeat, Accepting Appointment

By Amos Odhe, Yenagoa

Frontline House of Assembly aspirant for Ogbia Constituency one in Bayelsa State in the recently concluded primaries for the 2023 elections, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Eng. Azibalamawal Jonathan, has denied allegations that he has since conceded defeat.

The Assembly hopeful made this known while reuniting with his supporters at Otuoke, his home town.

It would be recalled that allegations that some of the aspirants had conceded defeat and accepted appointments from the state government, became wide spread with the state governor, Senator Douye Diri, constituting a reconciliatory committee to that effect recently.

Jonathan, who said his dream and aspiration was to give his constituents and constituency an uncommon representation,  if the primaries had taken place as earlier scheduled, noted that he would have also won landslide in the primaries as well as in the general election if the primaries were not botched.

To this end, he reiterated his commitment towards a continued pursuit of peace, adding that he has not met with any committee member and that he has not accepted any appointment in place of his Assembly aspiration from the state government.

“Yes, the PDP primaries for Ogbia Constituency one House of Assembly were botched. But if it were conducted as earlier scheduled, I’d have won. And I would have also won landslide in the general election.

“I still want to call on my teeming supporters to continue toeing the path of peace and love for the PDP. I believe that we’ve a listening leadership and I believe also that justice would soon be served us.

“I’ve not accepted any appointment as rumours have it in exchange for my aspiration of contesting the Assembly election”, he said.
