By Don Jack

A former member of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Ibinabo Michael West, has praised the efforts of the leadership of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and President Muhammadu Buhari at ensuring the completion of the new NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt.

The former Assembly member, and one-time gubernatorial aspirant, told journalists on the sidelines of the commissioning of the NDDC building, that the idea of the commission having a permanent place was long overdue, but said that with what has happened so far, the commission is set to perform its functions and add more value to other projects as it will no longer be bothered with payment of rent.

Michael West stressed that what the people of the Niger Delta had longed for has finally landed on their doorsteps, as the money that should have been used for rent will now be deployed to other areas that will add value as well as speed up development in the Niger Delta region.
