Imo Governor, Uzodinma, Appoints Nwachuku as Media Aide


… Names SSG, Chief of Staff

Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, has appointed the executive editor/editor, TheNiche Newspaper, Oguwike Nwachuku, as his chief press secretary/media adviser.

The governor also named Barrister Nnamdi Anyaehie, chief of staff; Cosmas Iwu, secretary to the state government (SSG) and C.O.C Akaolisa, attorney-general.

Nwachuku, is a pioneer staff and the executive editor/editor of TheNiche, an online newspaper.

His began his journalism career in 1991 with one of Nigeria’s then popular business/economy magazine, The Financial Post, and later worked with other media houses like The New Agenda; Champion Newspapers; National Interest among others.

A proven and tested professional with huge knowledge of news gathering, management and editing, with over 20 years working experience, Oguwike later joined Independent Newspapers Limited (publishers of Daily Independent, Saturday Independent and Sunday Independent) where he spent 11 years and rose to the position of Sunday editor and general editor.

Oguwike holds a Master’s degree in History from the University of Lagos; a post graduate diploma (PGD) in journalism from the Times Journalism Institute, Lagos; and was admitted to the degree of Bachelor of Arts in History (Second Class Honours Upper Division) of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1990.

He is a member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors and Nigerian Union of Journalists. He has acquired capacity locally and outside the country in the course of the job, and is married with children.
