Ahead the 2023 general elections, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Chief Perekeme Kpodoh, has reiterated his call on Governor Douye Diri to “rescind his support” for Senator Seriake Dickson’s election to the Senate.
He argued that the alleged support for Dickson is against an agreed zoning by Bayelsa West stakeholders, “as anything to the contrary will lead to chaos and disunity among the people.”
Chief Kpodoh, a former special adviser on security to former governor Timpre Sylva, stated this while speaking to journalists in Yenagoa.
He stressed that he had made a statement asking Gov. Douye Diri to rescind his plans to impose former governor Henry Seriake Dickson as senator for a second time on the people of Bayelsa West Senatorial District.
Chief Kpodoh said the warning has become more imperative now than ever because the governor “has gone beyond the ordinary to lobby the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to effect his demand against the will of the people.
“Gov. Diri in an unholy alliance with some haters of the Sagbama and Ekeremor Local Government people is planting political seeds of discord in the area just to satisfy the greedy ambition of the former governor and himself.
“And so, it is time now for people in the area to stand against this evil and hold on to their age-long alliance of zoning.
“What the governor is doing is to instigate crisis amongst the peace loving people of Bayelsa West and we will continue to resist it,” he warned.
Chief Kpodoh further berated Gov. Diri for “not honouring his vow to God to be upright in all things if he wins the tribunal litigation,” while accusing the governor of perpetrating injustice against a section of the state.
“Serving God is not all about bringing church leaders from different parts of the country for showmanship, open display as if he is God personified.
“Why is Diri using public funds to lobby for his going back to the Senate when he knows there is a standing zoning arrangement,” he queried.
He averred that “this is the same Dickson who supported former national chairman of the party, Uche Secondus against the PDP.
“Diri is doing all this because Secondus worked for him and Dickson to become governor and senator.”
Chief Kpodoh also promised that his next statement will be so damaging, as he said he has all the facts.
“The Sagbama and Ekeremor people are begging Gov. Diri to rescind his decision to impose Dickson on us before it is too late, because what he is doing will cause war, war that will stand in history against his unfriendly government,” he posited.
