Igbo Leader in Rivers, Bayelsa Endorses Fubara for Governor

By Emmanuel Sunday

The Eze Igbo of Rivers and Bayelsa States, His Imperial Majesty, Engr. Sam Nwokolo, Eze Igbo, Eze-jiofor Ndigbo, has declared his support for the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

Eze Nwokolo declared his position in a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday.

The monarch said he decided to endorse Fubara “for his credibility, and for the purpose of continuity and consolidation of the good work of the present administration in the state.”

He said, “All these candidates, Magnus Abe, Dawari George, Sobomabo Jackrich (Egberipapa) and others, they are all my friends, they all came to me and I gave them my blessing.

“But for me and my household, we have adopted Sim Fubara as our candidate and we give him our full support to become the next governor of Rivers State.

“The Igbos in Rivers State are ready to go to the polls on Saturday March 18, 2023 to vote. I have spoken to my people to vote for Sim. If am your king and you believe me, they should vote Siminalayi Fubara.”

“I have known Sim for a long time, he is a credible candidate, and I think he should be voted as the next Rivers governor for continuity. He knows the rudiments of governance, having been in the system for a long time as a civil servant, retiring as the accountant general of the state, especially with the present administration, and I think he is the perfect man to take over from Governor Wike and sustain the infrastructural development strides and also take the state to a greater height

“He had served the state creditably well and remained free from political baggage, hence his general acceptance by lovers of good governance in Rivers.”

He however called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to “be wise enough to do what is right by conducting a free fair and credible governorship and state House of Assembly elections on Saturday.”
