The Bayelsa State House of Assembly Thursday rendered a fresh account of its stewardship.
Speaking during the press briefing organized to commemorate the third session of the 6th state Assembly, the member representing Ekeremor constituency one and chairman, House committee on Information and Orientation, Hon Tare Porri, said that a total of 21 bills had been passed into law by the Assembly.
Porri noted that the House during its first session passed 12 bills into law while nine bills were also passed into law during the second session of the 6th Assembly.
He emphasized that while the House was committed to the basic responsibilities of making laws for the progress and development of the state, its oversight functions and members representing their constituents, the Assembly led by the Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere has also passed a vote of confidence on the state governor, Douye Diri.
The Assembly lauded the governor for his developmental strides, noting that he has demonstrated commitment towards the infrastructural development of the state.
The Assembly spokesman averred that as the House commences the third session of the 6th Assembly, members would redouble their efforts in the discharge of the mandates given them by their constituents in ensuring effective representation.
“The 6th Bayelsa State House of Assembly under the leadership of the Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere has passed a total of 21 bills into law.
“We’ve passed a vote of confidence on the state governor, Senator Douye Diri for his developmental strides. We’re committed to ensuring that we discharge our basic responsibilities of lawmaking, oversight and representation.
“We commend the state governor for the ongoing effort at completing the senatorial roads,especially the Western and central senatorial roads. We also want to thank him on the ongoing construction and completion of other major infrastructural projects in the state,” Porri said.
