Chairman Africa Association of Professional Freight Forwarders And Logistics of Nigeria, APFFLON, Onne Port chapter, Forwarder Kolawale Atanda has commended the Customs Area Controller, Port Harcourt Area 11 Onne Command, Comptroller Mohammed Aliyu Alkali for his unwavering commitment to trade facilitation, revenue generation and anti- smuggling and what he described as the Alkali’s strict adherence to the policy thrust of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, PhD, saying that his association would sustain the already existing robust synergy between it and the Command .
Atanda made this commendation while fielding questions from newsmen, Thursday at Onne Port Harcourt, the Rivers state Capital.
He stated the coming of Comptroller Alkali has raised the bar on revenue generation at the command as according to him, the Comptroller has continued to surpass the Command’s revenue generation target with the historic over N77B generated in April 2026.
On the issue of stakeholder engagement, Kolawale, insisted that Alkali’s friendly deposition has attracted many operators and stakeholders who will always run to him for solution for any grey area in the course of their operations.
”He has continued to sustain the business friendly relationship at Onne and I commend him on behalf of our association.”
”He runs an open door policy and will always want to provide solutions and make sure that the operations are seamless thereby ensuring ease of doing business at the Command.”
He also lauded Alkali for his aggressive enforcement at the Port whereby a total of 17 Containers of contraband goods were recently intercepted and seized.
”You know when unwholesome goods are allowed exit from the Port, such goods have multiplier effects on the consumers.”
”Such products can cause health challenges and also some of the social vices in our society today can also be traced to smuggled hard drugs” Atanda averred.
Continuing he said “with the measures put in place at the Onne Customs Command Comptroller Alkali and his officers and men have helped in safeguarding the lives of our people”
The APFFLON Onne chief also used the opportunity to extend his gratitude to the National President , Africa Association of professional Freight Forwarders And Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) Otumba Frank Ogunojemite for his leadership style in making sure that APFFLON is unified and his insistence on total compliance to the fiscal policies of the federal government by all members.
However, Atanda reiterated that all freight forwarding associations operating at Onne should continue to synergize with one another even as he restated his association’s commitment to continue to concretize the already existing relationship between the Nigeria Customs service, and other federal government agencies working at Onne Port.
