A 42 year old young man whose two arms were amputated recently on medical advice has finally cried out to public spirited individuals and governments at all levels to come to his aid as he could no longer cope with his family of five.
Speaking with newsmen over the weekend in Port Harcourt, Mr Justice Promise Etuk who is currently squatting at an uncompleted building with his family at the “Okoro market” estate, Oyigbo narrated his story thus:
”My name is Mr. Justice Promise Etuk. I hail from Uruk-ata village in Etim Ekpo LGA of Akwa Ibom State.
A welder by profession.
”I was managing myself like any other Nigerian in this hard economic situation biting everybody. Then sometime last year, one Mr Fortune Arumodum Humphrey, a contractor hired me to do a fabricated job as a welder sometime last year 2025.”
He explained that in course of doing the job at Bori town in Khana LGA of Rivers State, there was an industrial accident where the pipe he was welding fell on a high tension wire which electrocuted and threw him off balance.
Thereafter, he was rushed to the hospital by the workers and abandoned there then.
The victim’s family promptly reported the matter to the Bori Police Area Command then but it died a natural dead since there was nobody to push it further.
Mr Etuk lamented that the contractor Mr Fortune has refused to show concern or pick his calls
To worsen the pathetic situation, his Landlord ejected the dejected family from their rented apartment.
Mr Etuk said he is appealing for public spirited individuals and the government to not only support them with what to eat but to assist him to procure artificial hands to enable him to continue his hustling.
He also appealed for individuals and security agents in particular to help him track down the contractor, Mr Fortune Arumodum Humphrey who hails from Emelego community in Abua/Odual LGA but now residing at “Tank” area of Rumudara of Obio/Akpor LGA of Rivers State to at least show some compassion for him and the family.
