The Secretary to the Rivers State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba, has charged Auditors in the Rivers State Civil Service to be proficient in discharging their duties.
Dr Anabraba stated this today in Port Harcourt while declaring open a Two-Days capacity training workshop tagged; ‘Auditing for Impact: Current Strategies for Detecting Emerging Cyper Crimes and Implementing Budget Collaboration in Government MDAs,’ for Auditors in the State.
The SSG noted that it is essential that auditors are not just ICT compliant but also know the intricacies of auditing, accounting and ICT inter-connectivity to not be left behind by technological advancement.
“Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) is transforming the world, so you cannot be alive and not be aligned to ICT. As a staff of the Rivers State Government, you do not have any excuse not to have basic knowledge of ICT.
“At every point in time, you must pursue self development, because knowledge gained always makes you stand out by being effective and efficient in the services you provide. We must open ourselves to innovations and meet global standards.
”His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara is very passionate about the welfare and capacity building of staff such as this”, he assured.
Earlier the Rivers Ag. Auditor-General of Rivers State, Dr. Christian Yorkina, indicated that the theme for the workshop was crafted to empower and enhance the capacity of staff to be compliant with ICT applications.
“It is a necessity that the consciousness of staff of the State Auditor-General be raised to recent development in cyper crimes and collaborating for budgeting. It is in view of the conscious role we play in ensuring that there is value for very one kobo released by the State Government”, he said.
The Programme was also attended by the Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Warisenibo Joe Johnson.
