Makarfi v Sheriff: Supreme Court Judgment has vindicated Wike ~ Emeh

The Supreme Court ruling on Wednesday declaring Senator Ahmed Makarfi as the authentic leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has been described as a vindication of the Rivers State governor, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike.

This declaration was made by Chief Emeh Glory Emeh, a former commissioner for transport and aviation in the state in a chat with newsmen at the Port Harcourt International Airport on last Wednesday while awaiting the arrival of the governor from Abuja.

According to Emeh, Governor Wike has always believed that the correct things should be done, as a man who is not given to telling lies.

“The Governor had always maintained, ‘yes, I acknowledge Sheriff because of what people say about him but I don’t know him as a person”, Chief Emeh recalled, adding that when the governor discovered the other side of Sheriff, it dawned on him that PDP cannot make progress with such a person.

“In spite of all the entreaties, all the lobbying, all the disappointments by his colleagues, he stood by the truth that Sheriff is not the right person to lead a big party like PDP. And so he had to fight for it. And today, he has been vindicated, he has been justified that the truth is the best way to go”, Chief Emeh maintained.

The Emohua-born politician said the victory achieved by the Makarfi group, to which Governor Wike belongs, will spur him to embracing those who are willing to work for the party.

“He has always said that no one person can do it. He will be open to all the people who would have been on the other side of the divide.  As a big party that can win election in Nigeria, those who are with Sheriff will certainly come and work with those who are with Makarfi, but what is common is that they are all PDP.

“And we thank God that what has happened will not go anywhere to divide the party. The party will remain united, as one indivisible organisation”, Chief Emeh said
