Despite past losses, PZ Cussons Nigeria PLC has reported a strong financial turnaround for the year ended May 31, 2025, with total revenue of N212.6 billion, a 40 percent increase from N152.2 billion in 2024.
The company disclosed this in its newly released Q4 2024/2025 and Year Ended 31 May 2025 Financial Performance.
The company’s financial performance showed a profit before tax of N16.7 billion in 2025 as against N122.5 billion loss recorded in 2024.
It also reported a profit after tax of N10.1 billion this year compared to N90.3 billion loss recorded in the previous year.
The remarkable turnaround achieved was driven by revenue growth, aggressive cost control measures and implemented strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and profitability.
The company focused on its core brands in the home and personal care, including Morning Fresh, Premier, and Canoe, contributing N126 billion, while durable electronic appliances such as Haier Thermocool and others contributed N86.5 billion.
Although cost of sales soared 57.9 percent to N154.9 billion from N98.1 billion, the company still managed to post a gross profit of N57.7 billion, representing a 6.6 percent improvement.
Operating expenses increased, with selling and distribution costs rising 35.3 percent to N17.8 billion, and administrative expenses increasing 37.6 percent to N14.7 billion.
The company significantly reduced its foreign exchange losses from N157.9 billion in 2024 to N7.7 billion in 2025.
The significant reduction positioned the company to achieve an operating profit of 18.9 billion in 2025, recovering from a net loss of N124.5 billion in 2024.
The report under review further showed the company’s 2025 earnings per share stood at N2.32 in contrast with an N20.83 loss in the prior year.
However, the total indicative share trading liquidity for PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc in the past 12 months, as of 4th September 2025, is US$8.49 million (NGN13.14B), an average of US$707.82K (NGN1.09B) per month.
