It was a joyous occasion as the people of Adanta-Isiokpo in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State turned out in their numbers to benefit from the two days free medical outreach put together by the state Ministry of Health and Rivers State University Teaching Hospital.
Flagging off the exercise, the Rivers State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mrs. Adaeze Oreh said that the essence of the event was to ensure a healthy living among citizens particullaly the rural dwellers.
The commissioner who was represented by the permanent secretary, Ministry of Health, urged the people to utilize offered them through their son who the the chief Medical Director of Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, Prof Chuzendu Alikor.
In his remark, the Chief Medical Director of Rivers State University Teaching Hospital Prof Chuzendu Alikor emphasize on the important of the medical outreach adding that Adanta Health centre has been designated as the rural medical annex for Rivers State University Teaching Hospital in line with the teaching hospital standard.
He reiterated the commitment of Sir Siminalaye Fubara led administration in affordable health care for citizens of the the state, hence the reintroduction of free medical for children, adults above sixy and vulnerable patients
Prof Chuzendu Alikor maintened that the two days free medical and surgical treatment cut across dentistry, surgery, Orthopedic, Paediatric, Gynaecology general medicine among others.
In their separate goodwill massages, Chairman of Nigerian Medical Association NMA, in Rivers State, Dr. Tamunokro Diamond, Acting Chairperson of Rivers State Health Contributory pension, Dr. Velti Agala, the Vice Chairman of Ikwerre local government council among others thanked the Governor for prioritizing the health of the people and called on the beneficiaries to make good use of the government gesture.
