The people of Ahoada East Constituency 1 have risen to declare that “there is no vacancy in Brick House come 2019,” signposting a unanimous support for Governor Nyesom Wike’s likely second term ambition in 2019.
The resolution came on the heels of a meet the people tour by the member representing Ahoada East Constituency 1 in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Martyns Mannah, as he came home to a rousing reception by a surging crowd of enthusiastic constituents at in Ahoada town, Ahoada East local government area.
Marshalling a roll call of who is who in Ahoada East’s traditional and political setting, led by the His Royal Highness, Eze Peter Ihua-Maduenyi, Eze Ehuda III, the former chairman of Ahoada East, High Chief Cassidy Ikegbidi, Hon Dame Beatrice Awala, Ahoada East PDP chairman, Mr. Sunny Ideozu, special adviser to the governor, Dr. Thom Otuya, amongst others, the people of Ahoada East constituency 1, and the non-indigenes amongst them, agreed that given Wike’s performance in the period he has been governor of the state, they believe it is proper that he continues as governor come 2019.
Eze Ihua-Maduenyi said Wike had done so well that the Rivers man can walk tall among other Nigerians, as he reminded the gathering that Ahoada East people had benefited much more from Wike’s administration than they had at other times, part of these benefits, being the appointment of Ahoada East indigenes into the state executive, amongst others.
Other speakers at the event, commenting on the voter review exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), called on Ahoada indigenes that have attained 18 years and above to take advantage of the exercise and register, stressing that the strength of the constituency will depend on the voting strength.
Overwhelmed at the large turnout of people at the reception given him following his return from medical treatment overseas, their show of support, and placard-carrying youths, the member representing Ahoada East state constituency 1, Hon Martins Mannah, assured them of his commitment in the delivery of dividends of democracy.
He pointed out that projects sited in his constituency by Governor Wike, when completed will impact positively on the lives of the people.
Hon Mannah said that apart from making laws for the well being of the people, he will continue to initiate and attract quality projects to his constituency.
He described the ongoing upgrade of Ahoada General Hospital, the remodeling of Western Ahoada County High school and Ula Ehuda Odiereke road as practical demonstration of Governor Wike’s love for the people of Ahoada East Constituency 1, and therefore, enjoined them to reciprocate the gesture by supporting the PDP led administration in the state.
Hon Mannah, who is also the chairman of the House of Assembly committee on youths expressed his commitment to tackling the issue of unemployment headlong, and called on companies operating in the area to employ the youths and also engage them through skill acquisition programme.
Mr Sunny ideozu, PDP chairman for Ahoada East LGA, alongside another stakeholder, Mr Sunny Ojimini thanked the lawmaker for the meet the people tour assuring him of the cooperation and support towards a successful tenure.
They also advised those that have not registered with INEC to do so as to boost the voting strength of the constituency.
