11th Anniversary: Eze Ihunwo Grants Scholarships, Highlights Achievements

The Paramount Ruler/ Nye-Nwe Eli Woji Community, in Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, HRH, Eze, Amb, Dr Emeka Ihunwo, has celebrated his 11th anniversary on the throne as the Paramount Ruler/ Nye-Nwe Eli of woj, with his members of his cabinet and Woji community, marking the occasion with scholarship award.

Earlier in his speech during the anniversary celebration, Eze Amb Dr Emeka Ihunwo JP, disclosed that as part of activities marking the milestone, the palace continued it’s educational support programme by awarding a 500,000( Five Hundred Thousand Naira) scholarship grant to a deserving student of the community.

According to Woji monarch, the beneficiary, Miss Treasure Omasilachi Ezebunwo, hails from Ogbonda Ejekwu Village, in Woji community, and she is currently a 300 level law student at University of Calaber.

Eze Ihunwo explained that the scholarship initiative began three years ago as part of efforts aimed at supporting Children of Woji community in achieving academic excellence.

Eze Ihunwo said, ” What we started for this particular beneficiary began Three years ago, and today we are in the second phase of our commitment to supporting our Children academically. She was in year one at the University of Calaber, studying law when she emerged as the most qualified candidate after our screening process. Today, we have presented her with 500,000, representing the third year of support, and this forms part of activities commemorating our 11th anniversary celebration”, Woji monarch said.

Beyond education, Eze Emeka Ihunwo, highlighted several empowerment initiatives carried out by the Palace, noting that more than 14 pipeline welders have been trained under the community’s Skill acquisition programe, with many of the beneficiaries already gainfully employed.

He further revealed that 13 persons had also received financial support to strengthen their petty trading businesses as part of the community’s economic empowerment programme .

Speaking shortly after receiving the scholarship grant, the beneficiary , Miss Treasure Omasilachi Ezebunwo expressed appreciation to the Woji monarch, Eze Ihunwo, and the community leadership for investing in her future.

” It is with a heart full of gratitude that I stand here today to sincerely thank HRH, Eze Amb Dr Emeka Ihunwo JP, for this support towards my studies. Iam grateful for this great investment in my education and for what the community is doing for young people”.

Also speaking about the leadership qualities and tremendous achievements of Eze Amb Dr Emeka Ihunwo JP, in a toast at the epocmaking event, the secretary of the council, and immediate past General Manager of the Rivers State Newspaper Company ( The Tide Newspapers) Chief Ernest Chinwo, praised the leadership of the Woji monarch, stating that Eze Amb Dr Emeka Ihunwo, ascended the throne on June 13,2015, and since then, the community has continued to experience peace, development, employment opportunities and remarkable progress.

Chief Ernest noted that the monarch”s reign has brought unity and transformation to Woji community making the community a model for development and peaceful co-existence.

Also speaking, father of Miss Treasure Omasilachi Ezebunwo, Chief Ezebunwo, expressed gratitude to Woji monarch, Eze Amb Dr Emeka Ihunwo JP and Woji council of Chiefs for the show of love towards his daughter’s educational advancement.

He prayed God to continue to bless and replenish the pockets of the Chiefs in council for the wonderful financial support extended to his daughter’s educational pursuit.

The celebration also featured a special prayer session for the monarch by the Chiefs and community members for continued wisdom, good health and greater accomplishments as Eze Woji continues to Lead the people of Woji community to greater heights.
