. . Father Extols ‘Gov Diri’s Neutrality’

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Hon Warikumo Amakoromo winner of the Yenagoa constituency re -run election, having polled a total of 6959 votes to beat Hon Eboiwou Koku Obiyai of the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, who scored 5263 votes.
While declaring the result , the Constituency Returning officer, Prof Chris Onyema, deputy vice chancellor of the Federal university , Otuoke said, ” by the power invested on me, l hereby declare the candidate, Hon Warikumo Amakoromo haven scored the highest number of votes is thereby declared the winner of Yenagoa constituency 2 re -run election”
The elections took place in seven polling units where the elections were cancelled due to violence and disruption .
Recall that Yenagoa constituency 2 election results conducted in March, 2023 was declared in favour of the APGA candidate, Hon Warikumo Amakoromo , but the former two- term member of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon Eboiwou Koku Obiyai ,former chief Whip had challenged the result and the court consequently ordered for a re – run election for 3rd February 2024.
Meanwhile, Hon Warikumo Amakoromo’s father, Mr Arthur Amakoromo, had not only predicted his son’s victory at the re-run election, but commended Governor Douye Diri’s neutrality for allowing both candidates to test their popularity and acceptance the constituent.
He stated in an interview he granted journalists before the commencement of the election at his son, s residence at koroama in Gbarain clan in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
According to, Mr Arthur Amakoromo, who exudes confidence in his son’s victory, beats his chest that divinely his son,s victory has been ordained in spiritual realm and nobody was going to defeat his son, despite the fact that he is contesting under the All progressive Alliance, APGA ,that given his son’s capacity and trust,the result would swing in his favour and was optimistic that there would be celebration across the entire constituency later in the day.
“People are not going to vote political parties, but they will vote for individuals”
In related development, stakeholders have expressed their congratulations to Hon Warikumo Amakoromo and attributed his success to his kindness and love for his people, especially those in need and sought his assistance.
A youth leader pleaded anonymity , said he was not surprise at Hon Warikumo Amakoromo’s victory.” He is one man who outside government have been empowering the women, youths and payment of school fees for indigent students, all of these put together made the masses to que behind him”
