Wike Inaugurates Corpers’ Lodge, Ultra-Modern School in Oyigbo

Rivers State governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, on Monday inaugurated a newly built 16-room Corpers’ lodge for corps members posted to the Community Secondary School, Obeaku, Ndoki community in Oyigbo Local Government Area of the state.

Also inaugurated was the newly built ultra-modern Community Secondary School, Obeaku, comprising of junior and secondary schools blocks, administrative block, security quarters, science laboratory, computer center and a library.

Speaking at the event, which was attended by the crème de la crème in the state as well as other stakeholders, including former deputy Senate President, Sen. Ibrahim Mantu, state coordinator of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Wike said that one of the greatest ways of empowering the society is through investment in education.

He noted that the younger generation, who are the leaders of tomorrow, need quality education to develop their latent potentials and contribute meaningfully to nation building.

Mr. ‘Quality Projects’, as the governor is popularly called assured the people of Ndoki community and Oyigbo LGA that his administration will continue to remember them through siting of more projects in the community.

He pointed out that the Corpers’ lodge, which was tastefully furnished was in appreciation of the laudable roles corps members play as critical stakeholders and strategic drivers of his administration’s education vision and mission, adding that they had helped raise the bar in the quality of teaching and learning across the state.

Also, the state coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Chief Chinwendu Chukwu expressed gratitude to God for making the project a reality.

While thanking the governor for the giant strides he had recorded in the NYSC, by practically rewriting the narratives of the scheme’s operations since his assumption of office, especially in the transformation of structures in the orientation camp, Chukwu enjoined the corps members who will make use of the lodge to ensure that the facilities provided in it are adequately maintained.
