We Must Make Laws To Favour Our People ~ Dukor

A front-line aspirant for the Gokana state constituency seat in the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Pius Dukor, has tied his aspiration to “the need to make laws that will drastically improve the lives and well-being of my people.”

In a chat with our reporter over the weekend, Dukor lamented “the glaring inadequacies of laws that are supposedly meant to improve the lives of my constituents and their failure to do so,” adding that if elected, he will work with his fellow lawmakers to make laws that will alleviate the suffering of masses.

Dukor, who is aspiring on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), said he joined the race for the Assembly seat “to ensure that laws that will put resources in the hands of the poorest of the poor are made,” lamenting the seeming ability of those in office to turn a blind eye to the plight of the people.

“All my life, I have always identified with the less privileged. They are always placed at a disadvantaged position, made worse by the negligence of those whose responsibility it is to make their lives better.

“We can make laws that will promote housing loans for government workers so that they will not build house at retirement age, ensure health care and education, for an educated society is a wealthy one, and generally impact positively on the lives of the lower levels in the society,” he said.

He called on his constituents to ensure that only aspirants and candidates that are pro-less privileged, who are committed to making that will reduce the suffering of the masses, are voted for.

Hon Dukor, who is a practicing journalist, said he will use his wealth of knowledge to make good laws. The former vice chairman of Gokana LGA maintained that he has what it takes, even as a social crusader and activist to ensure this, while calling on Gokana people to support his aspiration.
