Vigilante Group apprehends 12 Suspects For Burying New Born Baby Alive In Port Harcourt

Operatives of a local security outfit in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area of Rivers in conjunction with men of the Neighbourhood Watch and Azikiwe Police Division in the state said they have arrested 12 internet fraudsters for allegedly burying a new born baby alive.

Chairman of PLGA Security Watch, Victor Ohaji told journalists that the fraudsters were arrested following a tip off that some ‘yahoo yahoo’ boys were doing incantation at the waterfront at Eagle Island, Port Harcourt were they allegedly buried the newborn baby.

Ohaji said he mobilized his men and on getting to the waterfront, the ‘yahoo’ boys has left but on close observation, it was discovered that the suspected ‘yahoo’ boys buried something at the waterfront.

He narrated that they dug the ground and found a new born baby but he was already dead as at the time he was exhumed.

The Vigilante Chief explained that he alerted the Rivers State Neighbourhood and the Station Officer of the Police post at Eagle Island who informed the DIvisional Police Officer(DPO) of Azikiwe Police Division.

He added that the PLGA Security Watch, Rivers State Neighbourhood and the Police mobilized and went in search of the suspects.

He said while they were combing Eagle Island, the suspects who were coming out from a hotel saw them and ran in different direction but the joint security force were able to apprehend good numbers of them who were taken to Azikiwe Police Division, Illaobuchi, Mile 2 Diobu.

We gathered that the suspects have been transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Port Harcourt .Meanwhile, a human rights advocate, Prince Wiro has condemned burying alive of a new born baby by suspected fraudster.

Wiro who is also the National Coordinator of Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign described the incident as the height of wickedness and man’s inhumanity to man.

The rights advocate while commending the security operatives for the achievement called on the Police to spread their investigation to arrest fleeing suspects and ensure justice is done on the matter.
