The apex socio-cultural organization Ekpeye, Uzugbani Ekpeye, has frowned at what it described as “a public ridicule” and an insult on the ethnic nation by the founder of Lord Echendu Foundation, Mr Ndubuisi Echendu.
In a release signed its publicity secretary, Comrade Ogboka Chris Umeda, Uzugbani Ekpeye said it’s attention had been drawn to a publication made by Mr Echendu, on the Social Media laying a curse “on Ekpeye Ethnic Nationality for a personal business transaction he had with one of our daughters, Megan Okirigwe.”
The group said that, “While we do not want to delve into the business transaction, the National Executive Council of Uzugbani Ekpeye is shocked at the way and manner Mr Echendu, an Ikwerre indigene dragged an entire Ethnic Nationality to a public ridicule.
“The Ikwerres and the Ekpeyes are brothers and have over the years lived peacefully and happily. The avoidable public insult/embarrassment on Ekpeye Ethnic Nationality is capable of igniting an ethnic crisis.
“While we cherish his goodwill for some Ekpeye sons and daughters, it is an embarrassment/unthinkable to think that Lord Echendu’s benevolence can make him insult us as a nation.
“For the records, Ekpeye Nation has a thousand and one Ekpeye sons and daughters doing well and also carrying out humanitarian works outside Ekpeye Nation. These proud sons and daughters of Ekpeye are benefactors to other Ethnic Nationalities inclusive of Ikwerre, but have not used their good works to insult those ethnic nations.
“Consequently, We demand an unreserved public apology from Mr Ndubuisi Echendu for the public insult and embarrassment.
“We also demand that he pulls down every line of insult/curse he dropped on his social media handle.
“We shall take further action if our demands are not met,” the release said.
