The rich and popular annual Ohworhu cultural festival, of the Unenurhie people in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, is set to be celebrated on September 17, 2023 at the village square.
This is as organisers of the event have called on the state ministry of Culture and Tourism to provide the technological support and innovations needed during the 14-day long cultural event.
According to a statement signed by the chief custodian of the Ohworhu cultural festival, Olorogun Pa. Samson Ughojor Abrucha, who is also the oldest man in Unenurhie community, as well as the president-general of the community, Mr. Peter Maison, the festival “is a time to showcase our rich cultural values and practices as a distinct and autonomous community in Urhobo land.”
Abrucha and Maison said the festival would be celebrated on the stated date at the village square with different cultural activities featuring masquerade dancers, drummers, traditional chiefs train, men and women dancing troupes, youth and children dramatic groups etc, beginning at 12 noon prompt.
The local organizing committee therefore called on all lovers and promoters of Urhobo cultural festivals across the globe to catch a glimpse of the Ohworhu cultural festival of the Unenurhie people.
