Unenurhie PG Donates Laptop, Printer for Voters’ e-Registration, Tasks Residents

The president-general of Unenurhie community, in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Peter Maison, has donated a laptop and printer to support the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Federal Government on the on-going voter’s e-registration across the country.

The president-general however tasked indigenes and residents of Unenurhie community to come out en-mass to register in order to boost the community’s voting strength during elections.

“This voters’ registration by INEC has started for sometimes now, but I can assure you that it has not started in my community. This is because they have no i-phone or computer to work with here.

“I learnt that the only laptop shared to each of the wards was stationed at Evwreni town, yet we are one electoral ward. Since they have started this registration at Evwreni town, nobody has remembered to mobilize the ad-hoc workers to come to Unenurhie town to register people any day. Everything is being concentrated only in Evwreni town, yet we are one electoral ward and one kingdom. Is this not an open oppression and injustice by the political leaders in the ward to Unenurhie people?”

He however solicited for support in order to achieve the main target of boosting the voting strength of the community which the Evwreni people so much count upon as their weak point in sharing dividends of democracy from the local government level to the federal level.

Hear him: “I want to strongly appeal to our people here and even those in Diaspora to come out for this registration. I also need more supporting hands financially in this project in order to pay the persons we have employed to do the job for us.

“Of a truth, this is the sole duty of INEC and the Federal Government, but if we continue to wait for the government, so many of our people would be disenfranchised. And this is reducing our voting or political strength in the political development of our community. “This is why it’s important for our people wherever they may be resident to do the registration. Thank God, it’s e-registration. You can do your registration anywhere in the country. It doesn’t necessary mean you must come home before you can register.”

However, the registration according to the president-general would soon commence in the community.
