… Dedicates Award to MEMPON
A non-governmental organization, Relief International Africa, has honoured HRH King Ambassador Engineer Onyeche Promise Obinna, Eze-Ikemba 1 of Ulakwo/Umuselem Ancient Kingdom, in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State, with an award of International Legacy of Excellence in Leadership.
This followed “the peace recorded in his domain as well as his peaceful disposition.”
Representative of the association, Ambassador Smith Nwokocha, presented the award to the monarch, during a briefing with members of Maritime and Energy Practitioners of Nigeria (MEMPON) in Port Harcourt at the weekend.
Nwokocha said that the group could not but honour the Ulakwo king following a review of his peaceful reign in his kingdom.
According to him, the leadership award is not given to people with questionable character, but those with integrity and high moral standard.
”The aim of the award was to recognize the peaceful leadership of His Highness, and its title is International Legacy of Excellence in Leadership,” he said.
The group’s representative also called on the Etche traditional ruler, to see the award as a call for a higher task, adding that peace was key in every human environment.
In his reaction, Eze Obinna said that he would do more to ensure that his kingdom enjoys unperturbed peace.
The Etche monarch, who also is the president, Transparent Leadership Initiative International, noted that he would take further steps in introducing more programmes that would usher in and sustain peaceful coexistence in the community and beyond.
Such programmes would come in form of free training in agricultural practice for the youths and others in order to keep them busy and away from crime.
He pointed out that most people involved in crime were as a result of idleness, and noted that a busy man cannot indulge in crime.
“All those youths who are into crime are doing so because they are idle. If they are sure of a lawful means of making money every day, I do not think that they would go into crime”, he added.
Meanwhile, he has dedicated the award to MEMPON led by its President, Dr (Amb) Ralph John, as a sign of partnership with the association and an attempt to crusade for peace in Rivers State, Nigeria, and across the international hemisphere.
