Transcorp Nigeria Limited, an electricity power generating company in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, has organized graduation ceremony for its 7th batch of entrepreneurial and vocational trainees as well as induction ceremony for the 8th batch of new intakes into the various entrepreneurial and vocational training programmes, as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to its host communities.
Presenting a welcome address during the ceremony which took place at the company’s premises, Transcorp’s managing director/chief executive officer, Mr. Christopher Ezeafulukwe, advised the graduands to put their acquired knowledge and skills into practice without delay, while urging the new intakes to be committed to the training programmes.
“I want to advise the graduands of our entrepreneurial and vocational training programmes to put their acquired knowledge and skills into practice. This is by opening your workshops and removing yourselves from unemployment and poverty.
“The beginning is very important in any business or enterprise. Your little beginning will determine your success at the end. Therefore, you must be committed to the success of your business ventures as even the company will give you financial grants to start off. Don’t divert the grants to other areas or lavish it unnecessarily.
“In the same way, I want to advise the new beneficiaries to be committed to the training like these graduands we are celebrating today in order to come out with success at the end of their training here. This is a rare privilege and opportunity to create employment for yourselves and also for others. This is why you must be dedicated to your training and give your trainers the maximum co-operation to become professionals in your chosen trades or vocations.”
Also during the event, special guest of honour, Rt. Hon. Festus Ovie Agas, represented by Mr. Clement Ikpedia, said, “What this company is doing for its host communities is quite commendable. It is in line with the various entrepreneurial, vocational and empowerment programmes initiated by the Governor Okowa government in Delta State.
“They are meant to take our youths from the streets and direct their energies into meaningful and productive ventures. Therefore, I want to advise the graduands to see this golden opportunity as a starting point of their lives. So many people are looking for these opportunities but haven’t seen it. You that benefited from it shouldn’t allow it to waste away. I also want to advise the new intakes to be more dedicated, committed and completely devout themselves to the training. Once again, I thank the management of the company for this kind gesture.”
In the same way, the Okobaro of Ughievwen kingdom, HRM, Bar. Matthew Egbri, Owahwa 11, and the representative of the Ovie of Ughelli kingdom, Olorogun Pius A. Omubaye, who also doubles as the president-general of Ughelli Descendants Union, thanked the management of the company for initiating such vocational training programmes for its host communities, while urging all parties to maintain and sustain such cordial relationship between the company and the host communities.
