Swali Ultra-Modern Market Inaugurates New Executive

A new executive has been inaugurated to pilot the affairs of the Swali Ultra-Modern Market in Bayelsa State for the next three years.

The inauguration of the 10-member executive, which took place at the conference room of the Bayelsa State ministry of Trade and Business Development, was performed by the ministry’s permanent secretary, Ovieziben Victor, accompanied by other management staff, and witnessed by chairmen and leaders of various ethnic groups operating in the market.

The permanent secretary, who represented the commissioner for Trade and Business Development, Hon Braboke Stanley, had congratulated the executive for a peaceful election devoid of rancor and acrimony, and urged other groups to emulate them. He also commended them for spreading the positions among the ethnic groups, adding that this means there is unity and love which has to be sustained.

The commissioner promised the new executive of frequent interactions with government, adding that the state will continue to provide conducive environment for their business to thrive.

In his acceptance speech, Deacon Jackson Bobra who broke the jinx of being elected for a second term promised to leverage on his previous achievements, which necessitated his re-election, to create peace and stability in the market.

He thanked them for the confidence reposed in him and assured that he is going to break new grounds in the market, as he pledged the support of the Swali Ultra-Modern market to the ‘Restoration Government’ of Governor Seriake Dickson to enable it finish strong on its developmental strides.

Those inaugurated were: Deacon Jackson Bobra (chairman), Izibefien Samson (vice chairman), Deacon Egboro Raboni Paul (secretary), Righteous Abeki (treasurer), Hamza Magaji (financial secretary), Sir Akpan Augustine (auditor), Comrade Felix Okorie (PRO), Boyd Abenzi (provost 1) and Harvest Okere (provost 11).

Speaking to journalists, the chairman of Swali Modern Market Management Committee, Kemelayefa Festus Akpowei, said as the government’s eye in the market he will not relent in ensuring that peace, stability and security of life and property prevail in the market, and warned against any tendency that would cause chaos and instability in the market as the state government will continue to provide enabling environment for traders to engage in their legitimate business without let or hindrance.
