Sunny Ezihou Becomes Eze Igwugwu of Igwuruta, Pledges Commitment to Devt

The newly installed Eze Igwugwu of Igwuruta Clan, Chief (Hon.) Sunny Ejikeme Ezihou has pledged his commitment to ensure the recognition and development of Igwuruta by the state government.

Chief Ezihou made this known after his coronation by the traditional ruler of Igwuruta, HRH. Eze S. N. Wekhe, Nyenwe Ali Igwuruta on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Eze’s palace in Igwuruta in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

While fielding questions from journalists, he said, “I will carry my people along and make sure I tell them the truth. I will work very hard and as a politician, I will work for the governor of Rivers State to recognise us and develop our community”.

He added that he would use his position to ensure there are peace, progress and unity in his immediate community, Igwuruta- Ali and Igwuruta Clan in general.

Chief Ezihou thanked the Nyenwe Ali Igwuruta for finding him worthy of the position, pointing out that he never lobbied for it but was recognized by the Royal Highness because of his patriotism and selfless service to the community.

He however advised his people to always live right because according to him, “when you live right, people will recognize you and God will also recognize you” and used the opportunity to commend the member representing Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. B. S. Emerengwa and some other worthy sons and daughters of Igwuruta clan for working towards the progress and development of the community.

In his opening remarks, the chairman of the occasion, Chief Mike Elechi thanked the traditional ruler of Igwuruta, HRH. Eze (Prof.) S. N. Wekhe for recognizing a good and worthy man like Chief Ezihou for such position of authority and assured him that he would not be disappointed.

He therefore urged Chief Ezihou to continue in his good works to ensure he leads his community to greater heights.

Others who spoke at the occasion include Mr. Kerian Opara, a business colleague of the newly coroneted chief at the Port Harcourt International Airport and also a member of his club, the G15, who, while extolling the good qualities of the chief urged him to keep on with his good works.

Also, a retired director of Public Health, Environment, Mr. Nwaejiowhor Innocent described Ezihou as a transparent, prudent and accountable personality who is God fearing and advised him to always carry his people along and have a listening ear to all and sundry to lead Igwuruta-Ali to the Promised Land.
